Again, Elijah paused and remained silent for a while. I looked around. Hilla was still at my side, but her eyes were shut while she processed Elijah’s teachings.
Then Elijah continued. “As humans get older, the mind becomes more storage-like, in contrast to the emptiness of the receptacle at the baby stage. In later years, information for the soul to process is loaded into the mind to share, from where it will eventually choose what to take as a lesson before it leaves the human body. So while the soul might decide to terminate life at any given stage, it is actually the mind that dictates the life path and, subsequently, the lessons the soul will learn.”
A silence ensued as I absorbed these concepts. I looked up at Elijah. His eyes were closed, and though his face reflected a serene calmness, I could feel his powerful presence. He then opened his eyes and looked at me, as if questioning my understanding. I sat motionless, needing to reflect, but I knew the time with Elijah was precious so I asked another question…
